Hello friends!

Happy Black History Month. To commemorate the month of February, I decided to write a poem.
I'm just going to let it speak for itself. Hope you enjoy – stay vocal and stay educated.

Nation to nation

Culture to culture

All joined and united

By the resiliency of our skin

From verbal attacks

to the police’s unjust and brutal combat

the battles we face

simply because of our race

others cannot begin to comprehend

the trauma and hurt that suspends

like an expanse of thick smog up above

overwhelms and consumes

yet we are expected to let go and rise free like a dove?

it is said that a new dawn has risen

a new day has come

yet the news and horrific stories rain down

eroding the facade

and makes our people feel numb

black brothers and sisters

It’s okay to feel worn down and tired

this doesn’t make you weak

this is not waving the white flag

as if you are admitting defeat

times are hard

and the load is a lot to sustain

feel free to lean on others

for you should not be the only one to carry your pain

all I can do is encourage

keep doing the best you can

and this goes for everyone:

raise your voice, and take a stand

this journey to equity

is not on the shoulders of black people alone

vocalization and effective support from all people

From day to day should be shown

so be supportive,

advocate for your black peers,

and use your privilege today

for those before us did not fight this hard, for it to all be torn away

thank you for reading.
look out and advocate for your black peers, not only this month, but everyday.

as always remember to...
stay humble+be kind.
have a great day!
